In a move that underscores its expanding role in the clean energy sector, Beijing Energy Holding Co., Ltd. has signed a landmark agreement to establish the headquarters of United Photovoltaics in Changzhou’s Wujin National High-tech Industrial Development Zone. This ambitious project aims to create a globally competitive, industry-leading base for new energy development.
Founded in 2004, Beijing Energy Holding Co., Ltd. ranks 247th among China’s Top 500 Enterprises and 87th among the Top 500 Chinese Service Enterprises for 2024. Its subsidiary, Beijing Energy International Holding Co., Ltd. (BJEI), serves as the group’s platform for international and market-driven clean energy investments, covering sectors such as wind, solar, hydropower, integrated energy, gas turbines, green hydrogen, and intelligent computing.
BJEI has established a strong presence in Wujin since 2012, when it founded United Photovoltaics (Changzhou) Investment Group Co., Ltd. This entity has since become the company’s investment headquarters. As of November 2024, BJEI has invested in 51 companies, 23 of which are based in Wujin, emphasizing the district’s growing importance in the company’s expansion strategy.
The new headquarters will consolidate resources in East China and strengthen the operational capabilities of United Photovoltaics. The facility will include a management center, business investment unit, settlement center, application demonstration areas, and research, development, and manufacturing operations—positioning it as a leading innovation hub in the new energy sector.
Additionally, BJEI and local authorities plan to deepen cooperation in areas such as clean energy development, energy storage, distributed energy, and microgrids, further establishing Changzhou as a key center for new energy innovation.
